Hitter Centric Clinics
Dropping Bombs: Torque & Mechanics
This clinic is designed for attackers who want to add velocity to their swing while protecting their shoulder health. We move beyond simple "hitting lines" to deconstruct the kinetic chain, focusing on how hip-to-shoulder separation creates whip-like power. Athletes will leave with a clearer understanding of how to generate force from their core rather than relying solely on arm strength.
The Wall: Foot work, Eye Work, and directonal Blocking
Effective blocking requires explosive movement and the ability to read the setter’s intentions before the ball is released. This clinic breaks down the footwork required to close the block pin-to-pin and the eye-sequencing necessary to be in the right place at the right time. We transform blockers from static obstacles into dynamic defenders.
Creative Hitting: Tooling & Shot Selection
A great hitter finds a way to score even when the set isn't perfect or the defense is well-formed. This session teaches the "dark arts" of attacking, focusing on how to use the opposing block to your advantage. Athletes will learn to see the court defensively and place the ball where the defenders aren't.
Net Domination: Jousts, Overpasses, and the swing block
Matches are often won or lost in the battles directly above the tape. This clinic teaches players the aggression and technique needed to win "50/50" balls and punish overpasses. We focus on the strength and hand positioning required to ensure the ball ends up on the opponent's floor.
The Hybrid: Pass-to-Attack Transition
This clinic is essential for "6-rotation" pin hitters who must carry a heavy load in both serve receive and offense. We drill the difficult footwork of passing a hard serve and immediately transitioning into an explosive hitting approach. This is about fluidity, stamina, and mental switching speed.
The Art of the Shot: Tips & Placement
Power is impressive, but placement wins championships. This session explores the finesse side of scoring, teaching athletes how to use the cut and off speed shots, deep pushes, and tight tips to frustrate the defense. This is ideal for undersized hitters who need to outsmart the block rather than hit over it.
PAsser Centric Clinics
First Contact: Seam Management & Angles
Passing is more than just getting the ball to the setter; it is about spatial awareness, geometric precision, and using your angles to your advantage. This session focuses on the "conflict zones" between passers and the discipline required to control high-velocity serves. We train athletes to trust their platform angles and communicate effectively to eliminate hesitation errors.
beFORE THE dIG: Reading the Hitter
This clinic shifts the focus from reactive digging to predictive positioning. We teach defenders how to read the hitter’s arm slot and shoulder drop to anticipate where the ball is going before it is hit. This is essential training for Liberos and Defensive Specialists looking to increase their digs-per-set ratio.
Setter Centric Clinics
Live Setting: Deception & The "Hold"
Great setters manipulate the defense to create one-on-one opportunities for their hitters. This clinic focuses on the subtle art of deception, teaching setters how to use their posture and eyes to "freeze" opposing middle blockers. It is ideal for setters who have mastered basic location and are ready to run a more cerebral offense.
Chaos Control: Out-of-System Offense
Volleyball is a game of imperfections, and the ability to score from a "trash" play often determines the winner. This clinic trains athletes on how to transition effectively when the pass is off the net and the rhythm is broken. We focus on high-ball setting and adjusting approach footwork to generate power from non-traditional angles.
Jump Setting & Tempo
Designed for advanced setters and hitters, this clinic focuses on speeding up the game to stress the opposing defense. We work on the "Zero Tempo" connection, where the hitter is in the air before the ball leaves the setter's hands. This is a high-intensity session requiring focus and precision.
Serving & Multi-Discipline Clinics
The Sniper: Zone Serving Strategy
Turn your serve into your team's first line of defense by mastering accuracy and pace. This clinic moves beyond "just getting it in" to hitting specific targets, with situational context, that disrupt the opponent's offensive rhythm. We focus on the toss, the contact point/style, and the mental routine required for high-pressure serving.
The Slide: Speed & Agility
The slide attack is one of the most effective weapons in volleyball, yet it requires complex footwork and timing. This clinic is specifically for Middles and Setters to perfect the one-footed approach and the chasing set. We break down the drift, the plant, and the arm swing required to hit around the block.
*This clinic will have a limited number of setter & hitter slots
The Pipe & B.I.C.: Back Row Attacks
Incorporating the back row into the offense adds a dimension that is difficult to defend. This session focuses on the timing and mechanics of the Pipe (Zone 6), B.I.C, andD-Ball (Zone 1) attacks. Attackers will learn to jump from behind the 10-foot line while maintaining forward momentum and power.
*This clinic will have a limited number of setter & hitter slots
Emergency Hands: The Non-Setter Set
"Better the Ball" is a core philosophy at MCA; this clinic ensures every player on the court can deliver a hittable set. We focus on the hands and footwork for Liberos, Middles, and Pin Hitters who are forced to set the second contact in transition.
