Coaching Your Kids
MCA is starting a monthly program meant for parents who want to get more familiar with the game and want to help their sons or daughters progress as players!
As coaches we get to work with players a handful of hours a week. Many times we get asked by parents, “What can I do to help them at home?”. Well you asked for it so we are going to start helping parents better understand the terminology, the mechanics, and the skills that go into playing the greatest game on the planet.
This new program is going to be for parents only and we are going to start to explain the game on several levels A few of the the topics that we hope to cover:
Basics mechanics of the various skills in the game and how to reinforce good habits in your player.
Terminology about the game - there is a ton of jargon that makes no sense to anyone who hasn’t spent a ton of time on the court.
Game mechanics and what coaches may be thinking.
Positions, and what each of them do.
hosting a 1 hour session to help parents navigate the world of youth volleyball in Harford County.
We are not a club (but we are in that world) and know that there are a ton of options out there. To help parents get an idea of what to expect we wanted to take some time before the upcoming club tryouts to help families get a handle on everything that is youth volleyball related.
While we will be mentioning the local clubs our goal is not to push anyone toward a certain club or even towards club volleyball in general. This session is purely informational and is meant to be question and answer in format so bring questions!
We will be holding this session at Grace Classical Academy on October 5th from 12 PM to 1 PM. There is no fee for this session but we would like to have families pre-register just so we can get a head count.
If you are a parent or player who has been through the club world and would be interested in giving their perspectives please note that on the registration page and we will save some space for you on the agenda!
